Before coming to Seattle a friend who is living here told me about the rainy times here (which I already knew about), how he disliked coffee before moving to Seattle, how that changed and he totally needs his coffee these days, at least two cups/day.

Why am writing this? That’s because I relate to that a lot. Coming from Scandinavia where coffee is VERY strong and bitter and I can’t stand it. Even a latte over there is too bitter and strong for my taste. And so all these years I have never liked the taste of coffee one bit. Now, a month in Seattle and I am really starting to like coffee, despite the fact that we have had only one or two rainy days since I moved here in mid July. So what is making me like coffee?

Well, it is not the plethora of Starbucks coffee shops. In fact, I still don’t like the coffee there, but rather its the different coffee shops that have made me dicover coffee and especially lattes. Vanilla and hazelnut lattes are my favorite at this point but who knows how long that will last. Still, I am trying not to make the coffee drinking a habit, but let’s see if the rainy fall and winter will play a role in that or not…

[This post was brought to you from Ala’s coffee shop, Cafe Coccinella, where I just had the best vanilla latte yet in Seattle]
